Doctoral Student Consortium

Coordinated by a Scientific Committee Director, Fernando Zapatero (University of Southern California), the Doctoral Student Consortium will be held on July 10, 2019, in downtown Madrid, one day prior to the Finance Forum. It will include a panel session with outstanding guest scholars discussing the latest advances in research and offering career advice.

Morning sessions

Panel with Guest Scholars. They will give sessions on promising thesis work, research agendas and job market presentations.

Afternoon sessions

The afternoon breakout sessions give participants the opportunity to present job market papers or dissertation proposals and receive feedback from the Outstanding Guest Scholars and other scholars.

To apply for the Doctoral Student Consortium, students must complete the online application and submit either one of the dissertation papers or a 5 – 10 page dissertation proposal (in PDF format). In addition, one recommendation letter should also be received prior to the application deadline. There is no fee for the Doctoral Student Consortium application.

The selected PhD students will be able to interact with both guest scholars and other professors of the Spanish Finance Association (AEFIN) during the academic sessions and over lunch and coffee breaks. The selected PhD students will receive a fee-waiver for the Finance Forum registration.

PhD applicants with a finished paper are encouraged to submit to the Finance Forum, which will also take place in Madrid on the following 2 days to the Consortium (July 11th and 12th). If selected, they will also have the opportunity to present in the Finance Forum.

The PhD Consortium will take place on the 10th of July in the Puerta de Toledo Campus of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Ronda de Toledo 1, 28005 Madrid).

APPLICATIONS AND REFERENCE LETTERS ARE DUE ON MARCH 15. ACCEPTED PROPOSALS WILL BE COMMUNICATED BY APRIL 10.

STUDENTS AND RECOMMENDERS have to upload their proposals and the recommendation letter separately via conference maker:
